What To Expect

VIRTUAL Sunday Service

In-person services are suspended right now, but we are still connecting virtually as a community on Sunday mornings!

Here are two ways to engage with our Virtual Sunday Service:

On YouTube:
On Sunday mornings, we publish our full lineup of Sunday Service videos on our YouTube channel! Click here to watch! Videos include:
  • Worship, Praise, & Prayer
  • Sermon
  • RiverKids
  • RiverYouth

On Zoom:
Join us at 11:00am EST for an interactive, Zoom Watch Party! What to expect:
  • With Lead Pastor Charles Park hosting, we'll watch the Worship, Praise & Prayer and Sermon videos together as a community. Use of the "Chat" function will be encouraged!
  • Then, around 11:40am EST, we will split into breakout Zoom groups for some connection time!

In-Person Service (Currently Suspended)

When and Where:
Service starts at 10:30AM at the Leadership & Public Service High School (90 Trinity Place).  Children can be dropped off at RiverKids (on the 8th floor) and youth can make their way to RiverYouth (in the Gym/Basement) any time after 10:15am.

First and foremost, we hope you feel warmly welcomed!
Dress is casual and you won't be pressured in any way
—you can be as anonymous as you wish. On a typical Sunday we'll have a  hundred adults and about 50 kids. Here's what happens:

Grab a program and a coffee, tea, or pastry:
As you enter the Lobby of 90 Trinity Place from the street one of our friendly greeters will offer you a Sunday program. The program describes all that's happening at the River and also
contains our "Connection Card," which is your way of staying in touch. Before heading upstairs be sure to enjoy a complimentary treat from Au Bon Pain.  (there are more treats on the 13th floor)

Head upstairs:
Our main service meets in the Auditorium on the 13th floor. As you enter, be sure to take a look at the materials on our Welcome Counter, especially our "New to the River" brochure, which will give a good feel for the church. (Got kids? You're welcome to keep them with you or, if you prefer, drop them off at RiverKids
—more info here.) Grab any seat that looks comfortable. Our typical service last about 75 minutes and includes the following:

Kickoff: We begin with a couple songs and some announcements about things that are happening at the River.
The Sermon, lasts about 30 minutes and explores different ways that faith can enhance our lives. (You can listen to recent sermons here.)
Response Time: After the talk we'll have about 15 minutes to think about and respond to what we've just heard with music, prayer, reflection, or communion.

On Your Way Out: Please be sure to fill out the "Connection Card" portion of your Sunday program. You can drop it into one of the black offering boxes at the back of the room or drop it by the Welcome Counter where you have the option of meeting one of our pastors.
