When you step off the elevator into the River, you can expect to be:
- Warmly welcomed by a member of the Host Team.
- Offered a program and a name tag.
- Directed to the pastry table and drink stations (coffee, tea, and water).
- Invited to drop off any kids/youth at our Nursery, RiverKids, and RiverYouth programs.
- Asked to grab a seat in the Sanctuary area that looks comfortable to you.
what are services like?
The service will begin at 10:30am, will last about 60-75 minutes, and will typically follow this format:
We generally observe Communion once a month. At the River, Communion is open to anyone who would like to participate. This is a reflection of our conviction that all are welcome at God’s table, without exception. We use Communion cups that include a wafer and juice.
From time to time, we mix things up and hold a special service using a different format! Some recent examples include our Easter Celebration, Advent Visio Divina Service, All-Church Christmas Celebration, Earth Day Service, and Conversation Church.
- We will start by singing some songs together. You can see recent setlists here.
- There will be an opportunity to say hello to one another.
- Staff and community members will share some announcements about goings-on at the River.
- The speaker of the day will give a sermon, lasting about 15-25 minutes. You can listen to recent sermons here.
- There will be about 15 minutes to respond to what we've just heard with music, prayer, reflection, and/or communion.
