The River is a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive church in downtown Manhattan. Our goal is to help people from every background experience God’s goodness in their personal lives each day. We believe Jesus is Good News for everyone—that means no exclusions!
The River is a part of Blue Ocean Faith; a network of like-minded people of faith, and church leaders pursuing progressive faith in secular settings. We have sister churches in Boston, Berkley, Ann Arbor, Madison, Iowa City, Santa Monica, Philadelphia, and Columbus.
In these videos our pastors share a little about their lives, what they do at the River, what the River is trying to accomplish in the lives of our members, and what God is doing in our city and the world today.
In 2004, a group of 10 people moved to New York with an exciting vision—build a Jesus-centered church in Lower Manhattan, to help people in NYC experience a life-giving connection to God. And so, the River was born.
