Hello River-ites!
We hope your week is going well so far!
We wanted to let you know about the plans for this Sunday and also for some exciting upcoming events!
THIS SUNDAY! (3/19)
This Sunday, Alison Noll will continue the Lenten sermon series, "40 Days of Faith: Fruits of Agape" with the topic Authenticity. We hope to see you there! (If you are unable to attend in-person, we will be streaming our service on YouTubeLive. Click here to join us at 10:30AM.)
"Chat with a Pastor" (after the service)
Join us as we form deeper connections and discuss issues of life and faith together! Lunch will be provided.
UPCOMING AFTER-SERVICE EVENTS:
Sunday Family LifeGroup (after the service on 4/2)
Join us after the Worship Service. This will be a space for families to deepen their connections with God and develop friendships in the community. We will spend time discussing topics inspired by the sermons and will break out into smaller groups for further discussion and prayer. For more information and to request childcare, please contact Amelia at amelia@rivernyc.org.
UPCOMING MIDWEEK EVENTS:
(NEW GROUP!) Stages and Seasons of Spiritual Life (1st and 3rd Tuesdays)
This group will examine frameworks of stages and seasons of faith to help members develop a deeper understanding of where they are in their faith journey, as a foundation to building deeper connections. The group will support members to recognize the strengths and challenges of each stage and learn how to embrace and navigate the season they are in, leading to a more honest and authentic experience of faith. Through discussions and prayer practices we hope for members to share openly, including their questions and doubts, and to witness and care for each other in each of our faith journeys. We will meet at the church on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, beginning on March 21. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Emily and Alison via the Connection Card.
LGBTQ and Friends Fellowship (Tuesday, 3/28)
Join us in the Basement Lounge for an evening of food, fellowship, sharing, and fun! Tuesday, March 28 from 7:00-9:00pm. For more information and to RSVP email Mike at mike.eller@rivernyc.org.
Politics & Christianity Discussion Group (Mondays)
A safe space for structured discussion about scriptural and theological perspectives on all of your favorite political topics. We'll cover everything from social welfare to climate change, from whether Christians should leave Twitter to whether America is a Christian nation. Join us on Mondays from 7:00-8:00pm, followed by optional fellowship time! For more information and to RSVP, please contact Maddie via the Connection Card.
Jersey City LifeGroup (1st and 3rd Tuesdays)
A gathering to grow in Love. We will talk, read, watch, play, and eat together. Each week will be different and creative to stimulate our connection to one another and God. We want to remember life is good and we are in this together. All are welcome! Every other Tuesday in Jersey City, near Journal Square, 7:00-8:30pm. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Nathalia via the Connection Card
The Life Stuff! Group (2nd and 4th Tuesdays)
New York is a challenging and thrilling place to live. “Stuff” happens in life here all the time. Someone gets a promotion, finds an apartment, has a baby! Or someone is ill, loses a job, faces a challenge. Sometimes it is important to have a supportive place to go where you can share what is happening in your life and be with uplifting company. Join us for The Life Stuff! Group meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in Tribeca from 6:30-8:00pm. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Nancy via the Connection Card.
Growing in Faith: "How to Deconstruct Your Faith Without Losing It” (Wednesdays)
Have you ever been hurt by the church? Have you felt shame and guilt, thinking you are not good enough for God? Have you ever struggled with doubts and questions about your faith and church? Then you are not alone! Come join us on our journey of asking deeper questions and recovering from the trauma of conservative churches. In this meeting, we will explore our history and past church experience, question some of the established ways of thinking about the church and the Bible, and discuss how we can reconcile ourselves with the church in a healthier way. We would like to create a non-judgmental, supportive, and nurturing community where you can share your life experience, heal from your traumas, and grow in faith together. Just bring your whole self. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Pierre and Anthony via the Connection Card.
Women's LifeGroup (Every Other Friday)
Join us for an evening of fellowship over a potluck meal as we spend some time sharing life and prayer. We will meet every other Friday in Park Slope from 6:00-8:30pm. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Molly and Michelle via the Connection Card.
