Summer Retreat Registration Now Open, Early Bird Registration Ends 6/26! (Retreat Dates: Friday, 8/7 to Sunday 8/9)
This August, we're heading up for our annual Retreat at Honor's Haven in the Catskills. In the past, many River-ites have described the Summer Retreat as their favorite event of the year! It's a wonderful time to relax, unwind, get inspired, and deepen relationships. And it's a ton of fun for all ages! The Retreat is designed for singles, couples, and families with kids/youth, and scholarships are available, so please don’t let costs prevent you from attending. Conversation Church (Sunday, 7/5)
On Sunday, July 5, we will be holding a special Conversation Church service. If you haven’t attended one of our Conversation Church services before, this is something we do from time to time throughout the year. Many parts of the service are the same (normal meeting time, opening and closing worship, separate programming for kids). But, instead of a traditional sermon, we will engage in intentional and guided conversation with one another. Conversation Church is a great opportunity to get to know folks in the church a little bit better and to hear different perspectives on how faith shapes our lives. We always start out with some easy get-to-know you-type questions and then begin to go a little bit deeper. And of course, like everything else at the River, what and how much you share is completely voluntary and based on what feels right to you. If you have any questions, reach out!
Summer Lunches at Bryant Park (after the service 7/5, 7/19, 8/2, 8/16, & 8/30)
On five Sundays throughout the summer, after the service, we will gather a group and head out to Bryant Park to eat lunch together. Feel free to bring a packed lunch or to buy some food on the way! (If there's rain, our backup plan will be to order pizza and eat at the church!)
RIVER GROUPS/GATHERINGS:
The River has many groups/gatherings that meet on a regular basis! Joining a group is a great way to feel more connected to the River community and to build meaningful relationships. Below we've listed some upcoming meeting dates. For more information on group descriptions and meeting times/locations, please check out our website. - Service:
- This Sunday, as part of the final round of the River's Associate Pastor hiring process, Maddie Abott will continue our sermon series, "Practicing 'the Way' of Love" by speaking on the topic "Practicing Love From Just Outside the Inner Ring."
- During the service, we will also be holding a Baptism Ceremony.
- RiverKids/Youth:
- RiverKids and RiverYouth will be holding their normal programming during the service. Please email Maddie (maddie@rivernyc.org) and/or Amelia (amelia@rivernyc.org) if you have any questions!
- After the Service: Q&A with Finalist Maddie Abbott
- After the service, you are invited to stick around for a Q&A with Maddie Abbott, a finalist for the Associate Pastor position.
- Pizza and childcare will be available.
