Hello River-ites and happy Friday! We wanted to share some helpful information about our Sunday services, upcoming events, and other church programming/initiatives!
LINKS/RESOURCES
• Last Sunday, Maddie Abbott continued our new sermon series, "Cultivating Fruits of the Spirit," by preaching on the topic "Joy."
• To see a list of the songs we sang during our time of worship please check out our website!
• Our most recent Resource of the Week post shared about an article examining the Book of Esther as a satire and a comedy special by Tig Notaro where she explores her cancer diagnosis.
THIS SUNDAY! (7/6)
You are invited to our service THIS Sunday (7/6), at 10:30am in Midtown Manhattan (15 W. 39th Street, 9th Floor)! Alison Noll will continue our sermon series, "Cultivating Fruits of the Spirit," by preaching on the topic "Patience." During this series, we're exploring questions like: What exactly is spiritual growth? Is it something we can measure? How do we help facilitate it? This summer, let's seek to grow together in love, joy, peace, and more!
RiverKids
Summer childcare (games and fun activities) will be available. Drop-off begins at 10:15am. Official RiverKids programming will resume in September. Please contact Amelia at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
RiverYouth
As the RiverYouth just wrapped up their unit on spiritual practices, they are now invited to join the River congregation for this sermon series "Cultivating Fruits of the Spirit." Youth will still have their own reserved section in the Sanctuary, and they will be invited to participate in reflective activities with each other and with the rest of the congregation throughout this series. Please contact Maddie at [email protected] with any questions or concerns
Church-wide Picnics (after the service 7/6, 7/20, 8/17, & 8/31)
Our first summer picnic will be THIS Sunday, July 6! After the service, we will gather a group and head to Bryant Park. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket, a packed lunch, and outdoor toys/games!
UPCOMING EVENTS
Summer Retreat (Friday, 8/1 to Sunday, 8/3) *Registration ends 7/14*
This August, we're heading up for our annual Retreat at Honor's Haven in the Catskills. In the past, many River-ites have described the Summer Retreat as their favorite event of the year! It's a wonderful time to relax, unwind, get inspired, and deepen relationships. And it's a ton of fun for all ages! The Retreat is designed for singles, couples, and families, and scholarships are available, so please don’t let costs prevent you from attending. For more details and the link to register, please visit our website. Registration will close on 7/14.
River Book Club (Starting this Summer)
This new group will bring together individuals who share a passion for reading, offering a monthly opportunity to engage with a collectively chosen book. Through thoughtful discussion and shared reflection, members will foster a supportive community centered on literary exploration and mutual connection.
