Take a Class

We offer classes throughout the year that are designed to encourage spiritual growth as well as provide practical instruction on how to get the most out of life. Classes are also great opportunities to connect with others!  Here's our current lineup:

Blue Ocean Book Club
Here's an opportunity to gather around a table for a home-cooked meal and to enjoy meaningful conversations about life & faith.  Pastors Sara & John Furste host this 4 week casual get-together in their home. (3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8) Each evening includes making a simple meal together, eating dinner, chatting about the book "Blue Ocean Faith" by Dave Schmelzer which describes the River approach to spirituality.  It's open to all but space is limited. Please email sara@riverNYC.org for more info.

The class does NOT include sharing any problems or issues publicly, but does provide each couple with private time to work on exercises that are proven to help improve friendship, fondness, and admiration. The cost is $249 per couple, for materials and a light dinner.  Registration is required. The class size is limited to 5 couples.

Newcomers Lunch.  Are you new (or just new-ish :) to the church?  Pastors Sara & John Furste would love to invite you to their home for a relaxed chat over a pizza lunch.  We'll tell you the story of how the River got started and how we became a church that's fully LGBTQ-inclusive while being fully centered on Jesus.  Mark your paper or e-Connection card for all the details.

Parenting Workshop - Emotion Coaching
The River is offering a 2 part parenting workshop based on the materials of Drs. John & Julie Gottman. Raising an emotionally intelligent child can help them to succeed in life in a myriad of ways: more self-confidence, better performance in social and academic situations, and even improved physical health.  Takes place at the River office at 11 Broadway, NYC.   Cost is $49.  Want to know more? Please email sara@riverNYC.org for more info.
