Sundays - 10am, 11:45am and 1:15pm
First and foremost, we hope anyone attending our Sunday services would feel warmly welcomed! We realize that coming to a church for the first time can be a bit stressful so we do our best to create a comfortable atmosphere. We want church to be a safe space to explore important questions about life, connect with God and get to know each other better. Our services last about 75 minutes and include the following:
Kickoff
We begin with a song or two and then provide a brief moment to say hi to one another. Next, we share some announcements about things that are happening at the River.
Talk
The talk, or sermon, lasts about 35 minutes and typically explores different ways in which faith can enhance our lives. To do this, we get insights from the Bible and link our topics to what’s going on in the world. We always spend time discussing how our subject might apply practically to our daily lives in New York. Prayer
After the talk, anyone interested in being prayed for can go to the back of the room and receive prayer from a trained member of the prayer team. In addition, this team meets before the service to ask God for specific pointers on what people in the service may need. The team leader will share these pointers and anyone who feels that one may apply to them is welcome to go get prayer.
Communion
The Sacrament of Communion (also called the Lord's Supper or Eucharist) is the act of eating bread and drinking wine as a way of reflecting on Jesus' death on the cross and what it means for our lives.
Music
We then sing for around 15 minutes. Our goal is to provide a reflective space to respond to the talk and to the prayer invitation. During the music some people may slip to the back of the room for prayer or to take communion.
WrapUp
After the service everyone is welcome to stick around for free drinks, snacks and social time.
About our Meeting Space...
We rent our Sunday meeting space from the New York Academy of Sciences which is located on the 40th floor of 7 World Trade Center (250 Greenwich Street.) It's building policy that everyone who enters pre-register by submitting your name and email address before coming and then show identification when you arrive. It's an extra step, but we think the space is so inspiring with its beautiful views that it's worth it!
