What to Expect on Sunday Morning
RiverKids happens at our 10 & 11:45am services. The program is organized into three age groups and staffed with at least 2 volunteers per group. (We run background checks for all volunteers who work with RiverKids.)
First-time families will be asked to register their children by filling out the registration form before bringing the children to their age-appropriate groups. All RiverKids rooms are located in the same area as the main service.
The Nursery (Under 3)
Nursery provides a safe and fun environment for infants and young toddlers to hang out and play so their parents can attend the main service without distraction. There are plenty of toys, books and drawing materials.Preschool Class (3-5)
Preschool time at RiverKids starts with structured playtime to help the kids settle in and engage right away. After a light snack of fruit and crackers, the kids participate in songs & movements, interactive story time and activities that include acting out stories, drawing, painting, games or reading.Elementary school Class (K - 6th)
Elementary school class consists of both Large Group time and Small Group time.During the Large Group time, all the kids come together for worship and an interactive story time led by skilled worship leaders and storytellers. In addition, children have an opportunity to share and hear from children of different ages and backgrounds.
Every child in Elementary Class has a set, age-appropriate Small Group of their own. These are led by volunteer Leaders who are there to help out with activities, facilitate discussions and form relationships with kids. This setting provides familiarity and connections for kids with their peers and caring grown-ups. Small Group activities often include arts, games, drama or discussions.
